Peter Foster Dip CII

Career Background

After abandoning my first career choice to join the British Army, I found myself falling into insurance after Sixth Form, as so many report to have done. My first role was as an Account Handler for Sedgwick UK Risk Services Ltd, where I worked out of the Norwich, Whitham and London offices. This was where I received my foundations in the profession, before moving on to Norwich Union a few years later, where I performed a number of Broker support roles from Norwich, Cambridge and indeed all over the country. My time at Norwich Union provided the backbone of my education as an insurance professional and indeed some amazing insight into management and leadership, not least through my being selected for a Management Development Programme that saw me travel to Namibia to build a playground in a remote community, amongst many other life changing experiences. In 2005 I left the corporate world of a large composite insurer to become a provincial independent broker, which is where I am proud to be today, as the Managing Director of Hugh J Boswell.

Why Hugh J Boswell?

Everything about my personality aligns with our core values and I’m proud to be able to lead through them and demonstrate regularly that Independence, Trust, Customer Commitment, Professionalism and Innovation are at the heart of everything I do. It is important to me to lead a community centric business, which takes pride in positively contributing to the community in which we seek to serve.

Interests

I am a bit of a World War 2 historian and enjoy anything connected. I keep promising to visit one of the European battlefields and will do this very soon! I enjoy running, albeit don’t exercise nearly enough…..I’ll do more of that very soon also! My big passion is my family and with my wife, Amanda, support all the school and sports interests that my son, Cameron, and daughter, Erica, enjoy, such as swimming, tennis, football and rugby. I am also a Governor of their school and spend a fair bit of time doing all I can to help develop the school and its community to thrive both for today and the future generations coming through.
