Important Update: MID transitions to new platform, Navigate

Published on in News & Insights

On the weekend commencing 27 April, the MID operated by the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) made a significant transition, moving to ‘Navigate’, a new IT platform.

The migration took place from 5 pm on Friday 26 April 2024 and 8 am on Monday 29 April 2024.

Hopefully, you have already received communication from the MIB / Navigate about this migration, but if not, immediate action is required:

    • Check your inbox and spam/junk folder for an activation email from noreply@identity.mib.org.uk to enable you to set up your new Navigate account.
    • If the email is in the spam/junk folder, ensure to add the following email address to your approved senders list: noreply@identity.mib.org.uk
    • Check your MID contact information and ensure your registered user access is active and up to date. If your account is inactive or locked, you won’t receive the activation email.
    • If you haven’t received the activation email, contact the Navigate team at engagement@mib.org.uk for assistance.

All MID portal accounts have now moved over to Navigate. This means that to continue notifying the MID of any vehicle changes yourself via the portal, setting up a new Navigate account is vital. Email reminders will be sent by the MID / Navigate advising existing portal accounts will be deactivated.

The new platform offers a different look and feel, and ensures a seamless experience for users. Here’s a link to the Navigate Quick Start guide:

Failing to update the MID / Navigate can have serious consequences. Most significantly, insurers may repudiate a claim on the grounds of non-disclosure of the vehicle if it hasn’t been added to the database when it should have been.
